Kyrgyzstan's first liver transplant was performed by İnönü University Liver Transplant Institute!
İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center (TÖTM) Liver Transplant Institute team achieved great success by performing living donor liver transplants for the first time in Kyrgyzstan's history.

Özvar stated that the Turgut Özal Medical Center team performed living donor liver transplants for the first time in the history of Kyrgyzstan and included the following statements in his post:
"The medical delegation consisting of a total of 10 people, together with Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kızılay, Liver Transplant Institute Director Prof. Dr. Sezai Yılmaz, TÖTM Chief Physician Adil Başkıran, successfully completed two separate liver transplant operations at the Kyrgyz Turkish Friendship Hospital in Bishkek. In order for liver and stem cell transplants to be carried out in Kyrgyzstan, the cooperation between the two countries under the chairmanship of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan "As part of the collaboration, 74 Kyrgyz doctors and healthcare personnel received training at İnönü University for two years. During our visit to Turgut Özal Medical Center last year, we met and chatted with Kyrgyz doctors who received training here. Some of them were also present at the liver transplants in Bishkek. This important success once again demonstrated the competence and leadership of not only our university hospital but also Türkiye in the field of healthcare."
Lastly, Özvar stated that, as the Council of Higher Education, they will continue to support university hospitals that go beyond the borders of Türkiye to provide services to the whole world.
